This Derthona takes its name from the place where the vines of Timorasso are grown in Montegioco (Alessandria). "Bricco", in Piedmontese dialect, is the top of a hill, while the "tears" are the figurative ones that the vineyard sheds, exposed to the suffering of drought in a white marl soil facing south. In this struggle for survival, the vineyard generates a Derthona with an agile and attractive profile: a clear and broad bouquet with notes of lemon and grapefruit, white flowers, acacia and honey and a savory and harmonious taste, with a persistent citrusy finish. The Timorasso "Lacrime del Bricco" is harvested in mid-September. The soft pressing is followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature and, after a first racking, the wines remain on the noble lees for 18 months with weekly batonnage until bottling. Refinement in the bottle lasts 6 months.

The origins of the Boveri winery date back to the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, an uninterrupted agricultural history for centuries and five generations. History teaches us that in this tumultuous lapse of time the status of agricultural work goes from being profitable and central to marginal and disadvantageous. Yet, in 1988, Giacomo Boveri hangs up on his training as a telecommunications technician, choosing to devote himself full time to the management of the family farm. Over the next thirty years Giacomo set up the business with the intention on the one hand of increasing the company surface, on the other hand of improving the techniques in the vineyard and in the cellar. The main objective, however, has been from the beginning to produce and promote wines with a strong territorial character, betting on native vines on the verge of oblivion such as Timorasso, Croatina and Freisa. Time has proved him right. To close the circle, since 2019 the Boveri winery follows the Passione & Ragione protocol for sustainable viticulture, with guiding principles that look synergistically to improving product quality and protecting the environment.
