There is no lack of Nebbiolo in Piedmont, but the one grown on the steep and sandy hills of the Roero is a very distinct expression of this popular grape variety: the tannic structure typical of this variety declined in the mineral structure heir to the territory, creating a Nebbiolo with a harmonious and singular character. There are several vineyards that give rise to this wine, and the ages of the vines scattered between the municipalities of Canale and Santo Stefano Roero are also different. Each parcel is fermented and macerated separately to respect the harvest times and the characteristics of each. Aging for at least 20 months, of which at least 6 in barrels, and a long rest in the bottle. From the blend of Nebbiolo grown in these crumbly and clayey soils, Valfaccenda outlines an unrepeatable character profile of the Nebbiolo del Roero: an elegant, gently aromatic and savory wine, with the full and rich sip that only Nebbiolo gives. 2018 was one of the most memorable vintages for Piedmontese Nebbiolo of the last twenty years, with a glorious relationship between the exceptional quality of the grapes harvested and the generous quantities. In this regard: give it another 5, 10 years of aging; we will hear and drink some good ones!!
Carolina and Luca are Valfaccenda, the most sincere and interesting interpreter of the Roero landscape. They are two wonderful people with whom we will never miss the opportunity to climb up the nervous hills of the Roero, the places where they cultivate their vines with respect, attention to sustainability and with the desire to bring the purest expression of this land into the bottle. Only Nebbiolo and Arneis, autochthonous varieties with which they signed a tacit exclusive contract, to create salty, juicy and crunchy wines. Valfaccenda wines are able in an original and brilliant way to tell the drinker their origin, the scent of the vineyard, the healthiness of the plant isthe fresh and alternative spirit of this young and lively couple. The approach to the cellar is sober and conservative: it does not remove or add anything to the natural transformation of the grapes, giving us extraordinary and expressive Nebbioli "in the nose" and Arneis "in the mouth". Real wines, of substance, magnificent labels that we see more and more around the world with enormous joy.
